This holiday season Holland America Line is providing the ultimate getaway gift for the entire family with 22 signature holiday cruises ranging from seven to 17 days.  Whether basking in a Caribbean sunset or reveling in the ultimate Antarctic white Christmas, guests aboard the premium line can leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy up to 50 percent savings, plus special reduced rates for third and fourth guests sharing staterooms, on select sailings.

Special rates are geared toward families on several holiday cruises - with six dates offering free or $199 rates for the third or fourth guest in a stateroom.  Double-occupancy fares start at $699 per person, plus tax, for a seven-day Caribbean holiday cruise.

"With cruise values starting at $1,598 plus tax for a family of four sharing the same stateroom, 'tis the season to travel," said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs.  "Plus, holiday cruises allow guests to celebrate and relax in style with five-star dining, award-winning service and their favorite traditions observed with none of the hassle - letting guests truly enjoy their time with their family."

On-board festivities include holiday decorations, sumptuous traditional meals, seasonal movies, culinary classes and demonstrations featuring tasty holiday treats, a visit from Santa for the kids, activities and crafts, strolling carolers, a tree-lighting ceremony, eggnog in the Atrium, Christmas brunch, Santa's milk and cookie late-night snack, and a holiday show by the crew on Christmas Eve.

Those sailing on any ship over Dec. 31 will enjoy a traditional New Year's Eve Gala Ball with live music, dancing, festive attire and a midnight toast.  Select college bowl games also will be broadcast on board.  Each holiday voyage features clergy to conduct Catholic, Protestant and Jewish services (for cruises during Hanukkah).

Sail the Caribbean on Seven- to 14-day Cruises

Thirteen Caribbean holiday cruise options are available between Dec. 17 and Dec. 31 aboard seven ships - ms Westerdam, ms Maasdam, ms Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Ryndam, ms Prinsendam and ms Noordam - departing from Fort Lauderdale or Tampa, Fla., over one or both holidays.

Itineraries include a seven-day southern Caribbean cruise with stops at such exotic ports as Aruba and Curacao.  Or try seven days exploring the rich waters of the eastern Caribbean and legendary ports of call such as Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.  Finally, holiday cruisers can choose among western Caribbean options with stops that might include Belize, Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Costa Maya, Mexico, and Key West, Fla.

Travelers with more time can opt for 10- to 14-day Caribbean cruises and usher in the New Year in St. Thomas or St. George's while sampling the ports of Barbados and Grand Turk.

Most itineraries feature a visit to Half Moon Cay, Holland America Line's award-winning exclusive private island experience with white sand beaches, aqua waters and shore activities ranging from horseback riding to a stingray adventure.

Sunny Mexican Riviera & Panama Canal for a Festive Occasion

Departing from Fort Lauderdale, San Diego or Los Angeles, Calif., in mid to late December, five cruises feature distinct itineraries that visit different collections of warm-water ports along the Mexican Riviera, Central America, Panama Canal and Caribbean.

The Sunfarer Caribbean Holiday cruise is a 10-day trip from Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 23 aboard ms Zuiderdam in the southern Caribbean with Christmas Eve at Half Moon Cay, a partial transit of the Panama Canal and New Year's Eve at sea, returning Jan. 2, 2011.

Two more cruises visit the Panama Canal beginning with a 14-day cruise that departs Los Angeles Dec. 22 aboard ms Amsterdam in time for Christmas Day at sea and stops in Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica before traversing the Canal en route to Fort Lauderdale.  Or guests can opt for the 14-day Panama Canal Holiday Cruise on ms Statendam departing San Diego on Christmas Eve.  Stops in Mexico include Puerto Vallarta and Puerto Chiapas before crossing the canal to reach Fort Lauderdale.

Christmas and New Years holidays along the Mexican Riviera can be particularly memorable on an eight-day cruise from San Diego aboard ms Oosterdam departing Dec. 18, or a seven-day sailing Dec. 26 that visits Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Or guests can opt for a 12-day cruise departing Dec. 22 on ms Rotterdam that features Christmas Eve in Cabo San Lucas, Christmas Day at sea and New Year's Eve in Mazatlan.

Longer Voyages Sail the Pacific

The warm waters of the far Pacific offer memorable holiday adventures as well.  A 14-day Circle Hawaii sailing aboard ms Zaandam departs San Diego Dec. 19 with Christmas Eve in Hilo, Christmas Day in Nawiliwili and New Year's Day in Ensenada, Mexico.  Departing Dec. 17 and with limited space, the 16-day Australia-New Zealand Holiday Cruise aboard ms Volendam explores the southern coast of Australia from Sydney before an extensive tour of New Zealand ports such as Milford Sound and Auckland, and celebrating Christmas Eve in Wellington.

In fall 2011 and early 2012, Holland America Line again will offer grand voyages that touch all seven continents. The ms Amsterdam and ms Prinsendam each sail two itineraries designed to discover and explore remarkable destinations -- from famous landmarks to smaller, lesser-known ports.

holland-america810.jpg

Amsterdam sails a 70-day Grand Asia and Australia Voyage in fall 2011 and then returns to world cruising in January 2012 with a 112-day Grand World Voyage that visits the South Pacific, New Zealand, Australia and the Mediterranean. Following its 68-day Grand South America and Antarctica Voyage in January, Prinsendam will depart in March to the Mediterranean and the Holy Lands for a 62-day Grand Mediterranean and Black Sea Voyage.

"Based on extensive research on our previous grand voyages and a survey of past guests, we created itineraries that feature the most coveted sights and experiences the world has to offer," said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Line. "From creative and varied menus that reflect ports of call, to tailored activities and unique amenities, Grand Voyages guests will experience Holland America Line at its finest."

Without requiring international air travel, Holland America Line's Grand Voyages make taking a dream vacation easy and more affordable. The voyages feature UNESCO World Heritage Sites, first-time calls at new destinations and extended time in port with late departures, overnights and overland tours.

Grand Voyages offer an enhanced onboard cruise experience with the opportunity to fully experience the pleasures of life at sea. Activities are enhanced with local cultural entertainment and special guest headliners and lecturers. Grand Voyage dining is distinguished by a different experience every day, featuring local ingredients and regional cuisine and wines. The premium, mid-size ships selected for sailing Grand Voyages are large enough to offer the diverse amenities today's discriminating travelers expect, yet small enough to preserve an ambiance of sophistication and an extra measure of personal space. And service levels are at their highest, with nearly one crew member for every two guests, with top staff hand-selected from across the Holland America Line fleet.

Grand Asia & Australia Voyage

In fall 2011, Amsterdam wraps up the year with a 70-day Grand Asia and Australia Voyage sailing from Seattle, Wash., to Los Angeles, Calif., departing Sept. 26. Following calls throughout Asia, the cruise continues to western Australia and then explores the South Pacific. Overnights include Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, China; Tokyo and Kobe, Japan; Singapore, and Sydney and Perth, Australia.

Grand World Voyage

Amsterdam will sail its seventh circumnavigation with a Grand World Voyage roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., departing Jan. 6. The 112-day adventure first calls in the Caribbean, then moves on to South America, sailing around Cape Horn for a scenic cruise through the Chilean Fjords and then south to Antarctica. Amsterdam then sails west to Tahiti, followed by calls in Australia, the Far East and Indian Ocean, before transiting the Suez Canal and sailing through the Mediterranean and back to South Florida.

Overnight calls include the Great Barrier Reef from Sydney, Hong Kong, Mumbai, India; Barcelona, Spain; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Singapore, and Piraeus (Athens), Greece.

The voyage also features a maiden call at Mangalore in Southern India. Hundreds of shore excursions, overland tours and the opportunity to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites add color to this world cruise.

Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage

Prinsendam returns to South America, Antarctica and the Amazon in 2012 on a 68-day itinerary departing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale Jan. 4. The ship will transit the Panama Canal to South America's Pacific coast then circumnavigate the continent.

Prinsendam will spend eight days cruising the Amazon River and four days of scenic cruising in Antarctica. The itinerary also features five maiden ports of call: Bocas del Toro, Panama; Matarani, Peru; Cabedelo, Brazil, and Ancud, Chile. Overnight calls include Manaus, Brazil, in the Amazon; Rio de Janeiro; Buenos Aires, and Callao (Lima), Peru.

Guests sailing on this voyage also will enjoy a scenic daylight cruise past the Romanche, Alemania, Francia and Italia glaciers in Chile.

Grand Mediterranean & Black Sea Voyage

Upon its return to Fort Lauderdale, Prinsendam embarks March 12 on a 62-day journey to the Mediterranean and Holy Lands roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale.

For the first time, Prinsendam will call at Durres, Albania's second-largest city and one of Europe's oldest cities, Saint Raphael in the beautiful Cote d'Azur region of France, and Castellon de la Plana, in the Costa del Azahar region of Spain.

Overnight calls at Seville, Spain; Kusadasi (Ephesus) and Istanbul, Turkey; Piraeus (Athens); Venice, Italy; Barcelona, and Lisbon, Portugal, allow time for exploration of some of the world's most interesting destinations. This voyage can be combined with the Grand South America and Antarctica Voyage for a 130-day cruise.

Reservations can now be booked for 2011 and 2012 grand voyages

Reservations are being taken for all of Holland America Line's 2011 and 2012 grand voyages, and early-booking bonus amenities for full-cruise guests include prepaid hotel service charges, shipboard credit, luggage delivery service and a complimentary shore excursion or event for select stateroom categories. Amenities vary by cruise, stateroom category and booking date.

Rates start at $9,499 for Amsterdam's 70-day Grand Asia and Australia Voyage; $23,799 for Amsterdam's 112-day Grand World Voyage; $14,399 for Prinsendam's 68-day Grand South America and Antarctica Voyage; and $12,999 for Prinsendam's 62-day Grand Mediterranean and Black Sea Voyage. Top of the range suites include Grand Wintergarden Suites, offering 1,403 square feet of indoor and outdoor space; two bedrooms and bathrooms; a private, glass-enclosed solarium with tub and daybed; dining for six; two bars; whirlpool and three flat-screen televisions.  All suites feature separate living areas and bedrooms, writing desks with personalized stationery, iPod and MP3 connections and spacious granite bathrooms with separate bath and shower and twin sinks.

Other highlights include two outdoor swimming pools, six outdoor whirlpools, and water sports from the unique fold-out marina.  Located on the top deck is The Retreat, featuring a contoured nine-hole mini golf course, a giant chess board, shuffleboard and stargazing in the evening.  On Deck 7 is Seabourn Square, an innovative "concierge lounge" with a library, upscale shops, outdoor terrace, computer center and coffee bar.

Sojourn will be moored mid-river for two days of inaugural celebrations on June 4 and 5.  British supermodel and fashion icon Twiggy will officially name the vessel during a glittering ceremony on the evening of June 4.  On the following day, the company has donated Sojourn to the non-profit organization, Breast Cancer Haven, as the venue for a gala fundraising event to celebrate the charity's 10th anniversary.

On June 6, Sojourn will begin her maiden season from London, and sail 12- to 14-day voyages during the summer to the Baltic, Scandinavia, Russia, Norwegian Fjords, and Scotland, as well as several Mediterranean voyages in the fall.  Following a 12-day transatlantic cruise, the yacht will operate a series of Caribbean voyages in the winter from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  On Jan. 5, 2011, Sojourn will embark on a world cruise from Los Angeles to London via the South Pacific, New Zealand, around Western Australia, Indonesia and Southeast Asia, India, Arabia and the Mediterranean.  Rates for the full 111-day world cruise begin at $49,995 per person, based on double occupancy.

Cruise line lauded for its fuel conservation and waste reduction efforts

In recognition of its measurable efforts to reduce its environmental footprint both at sea and in port, Holland America Line has been selected as the 2010 Marine Environmental Business of the Year by the Port of Seattle and the Seattle Propeller Club.

"We applaud and congratulate Holland America Line in winning the 2010 Marine Environmental Business of the Year Award," said Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani. "Their efforts at using shore power while at berth in Seattle contribute greatly to our Puget Sound Clean Air Strategy and help make Northwest ports the Green Gateway."

Noting the company's detailed ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) plan that governs its fleet-wide efforts, the Port praised Holland America Line for its energetic efforts to reduce its impact on the port and the surrounding community through efficient energy management strategies and responsible management of wastewater discharges.

"We are honored to receive this award and thank the Port of Seattle for recognizing our efforts in environmental stewardship," said Stein Kruse, president and chief executive officer. "Being selected for this award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to preserving the environment both locally and around the world."

Reducing Fuel Consumption and Emissions

In the last three years Holland America Line challenged its ships to operate at 98 percent of their fuel budget, and in each of those years the ships consumed 96 percent of their fuel budget. Ships based in Seattle during the Alaska cruise season from May through September eliminate diesel engine emissions through a combination of fuel conservation and shore power usage.

Other successful fuel reduction strategies include selecting itineraries that allow optimum vessel speed between port calls to minimize fuel use and maintaining equipment according to specifications.

The company also shares best practices and monthly fuel-use data to encourage competition between vessels to become more efficient.

A Decade-long Partnership

Holland America Line ships have been calling at the port of Seattle since the early 1970s. In May 2002, Holland America Line began basing ships in Seattle for Alaska cruises and began its partnership with the Port to increase tourism into the region. Over the last seven years, its operations have generated more than $2.5 billion for the Seattle area alone. In 2010, the company adds another ship to sail Alaska cruises for a total of four ships based in Seattle sailing 69 cruises from May through September.

Holland America Line's fleet of 14 ships offers nearly 500 cruises to 320 ports in more than 100 countries, territories or dependencies.  Two- to 108-day itineraries visit all seven continents, and highlights include Antarctica, South America, Australia/New Zealand and Asia voyages; a Grand World Voyage; and popular sailings to ports in the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, Canada/New England, Europe and Panama Canal.  A 15th ship, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, is scheduled to join the fleet on July 4, 2010.

The highest-rated premium cruise line in the world, Holland America Line is a member of the exclusive World's Leading Cruise Lines alliance, which also includes Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, Seabourn Cruise Line and Costa Cruises.  Sharing a passion to please each guest and a commitment to quality and value, these lines appeal to a wide range of lifestyles and budgets.  The World's Leading Cruise Lines offer exciting and enriching cruise vacations to the world's most desirable destinations.

Inspection days

Sailing yacht "Aries" is moored in Villefranche sur Mer, France, ready for inspection. Viewing will take place Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 May from 14:00 to 18:00 hours.

Exciting new resource for traditional brokerage houses

The Super Yacht Auction concept is intended as a new resource for traditional brokerage houses, not as a competitor. Super Yacht Auction gives brokers and other sellers in the super yacht industry new opportunities to generate no-stress and especially fast sales. In addition to that any principal who brings a super yacht to the auction, is guaranteed to receive 50 % of the auction commission.

In order to serve super yacht brokers and owners worldwide Super Yacht Auction is located in Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Dubai, Hong Kong, Fort Lauderdale, London, Marbella, Monaco and New York.

Safe and reliable: inspection and official supervision

The super yacht is sold in the condition in which it is at the time of acceptance ("as is where is"). For that reason every online or public auction is preceded by two inspection days (Saturdays and Sundays). That gives potential bidders every opportunity to check and verify the super yacht before bidding. Bids are irrevocable and unconditional. Both online and public auctions take place under the official supervision of a well-established (nautical) bailiff firm or notary public.

Holland America Line's ms Statendam departed Fort Lauderdale, Fla., April 11 for a 14-day southern Caribbean voyage, fresh from a stem-to-stern, multi-million dollar Signature of Excellence dry dock at Freeport, Bahamas.  The 1,260-guest ship received a host of new facilities and features including new stateroom furnishings and bathroom upgrades; Canaletto, a complimentary Italian eatery; the sophisticated Showroom at Sea; and the stylish lounge called Mix, which combines three distinct bars into one area.  The refurbishment enhances Holland America Line's premium vacation experience for guests as part of the company's $525 million Signature of Excellence fleet-wide program.

"With Statendam completed, we now have four ships sailing with these exciting enhancements," said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs.  "Our on-going commitment through Signature of Excellence means that our guests enjoy the finest amenities and the latest in programming, technology, activities and trends that premium cruisers seek today."

Statendam is the fourth ship in a series of five to receive extensive Signature of Excellence upgrades; the ms Veendam, ms Rotterdam and ms Ryndam refits are now complete.  Maasdam is scheduled to receive upgrades in April 2011.

Public Areas Feature Latest Innovations During the Dry Dock

Canaletto, a complimentary, casual Italian restaurant, was added to ms Statendam and comes to life for dinner when a section of the Lido is transformed with glass partitions and an Italian ambiance with dishes such as putanesca and penne alla vodka.  Although there is no charge to dine in the alternative venue, reservations are suggested.  To create a more open, engaging environment for guests during evenings, Statendam underwent the reconfiguration of the existing Casino and Piano bars into Mix, a multi-themed area with three separate bars: Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales, serving their namesakes.  The high-energy Casino was redesigned and the main show lounge was transformed into the Showroom at Sea with the ambiance of a glamorous nightclub and several new shows.  An upscale luxury jewelry shop called Merabella was added mid-ship to the completely renovated main shopping area with its Signature jewelry and watch boutiques.  Other public areas around the ship also were refurbished and received new carpeting.

Staterooms Receive New Look and New Spa Category Added

Completing the enhancements, Statendam's staterooms received new carpeting, soft goods and completely renovated bathrooms with new vanities and cabinetry.  Sixteen staterooms near the Greenhouse Spa (on Verandah Deck) became "spa staterooms" featuring a variety of enhanced amenities.  Each offers exclusive items such as organic cotton bathrobes and slippers, a yoga mat, a soothing water feature, special room service menus and treatments, and more.

Explorations Team Expands the Exclusive Activities

Today's premium cruiser seeks enriching experiences and engaging activities.  Ever responsive to guests' needs, Holland America Line broadened its onboard programming aboard Statendam and all ships with the Explorations Team -- staff with specific, niche expertise ranging from technology to travel, who offer guests a range of programs to educate and entertain guests.  The onboard Party Planner will host Explore Food & Entertaining events in the Culinary Arts Center, presented by Food & Wine Magazine, significantly expanding the innovative program which brings more than 70 culinary experts on board each year in addition to classes and demonstrations on every sailing.  As the destination expert on board under Explore Our World, the Travel Guide will give dynamic multimedia presentations about the ship's itinerary and be a one-stop source for port-of-call information.  The Techspert will offer Explore Technology classes and Digital Workshops powered by Windows, where guests can learn how to blog, work with digital photos, arrange a digital scrapbook, create a slideshow or edit a movie.  Leading Explore Wellbeing, the LifeStylist will offer new entertainment, fitness and sport activities.  On cruises lasting 14 days or more, the Librarian also leads a book club.
